What is Microblading ?
Microblading enhances the appearance of eyebrows using a semi-permanent cosmetic procedure designed to enhance the appearance of eyebrows by creating ultra-fine, realistic hair strokes using a manual tool. The technique involves a small blade made of fine-point needles that gently scratch the surface layer of the skin (epidermis), depositing pigment in precise strokes that mimic natural brow hairs.
This method allows for a soft, natural finish or a more defined brow look, depending on the client’s preference and brow structure.

Microblading vs. Tattooing – What’s the Difference?
Unlike traditional cosmetic tattoos, microblading is performed manually without a machine. The pigment is deposited much closer to the surface of the skin, which allows for greater precision and finer strokes. This technique creates crisp, clean lines that give the illusion of real eyebrow hairs, without pigment spreading or “bleeding” under the skin.
How long does the microblading procedure take?
Microblading typically requires two sessions to achieve the desired outcome. The first session lasts approximately two hours and includes consultation, brow mapping, and the initial application. The second session, scheduled 4 to 12 weeks later, lasts about one hour and is used to perfect the shape and color.
Who Is a Good Candidate for Microblading?
Microblading is suitable for individuals who want to enhance or reconstruct sparse eyebrows. However, it is important to ensure there are no contraindications before scheduling a session. If a medical condition is present, it is always recommended to consult with your doctor prior to the procedure.
How Long Does Microblading Last?
Microblading results usually last between 2 to 4 years, depending on your skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare routine.
Since the pigment is not implanted as deeply as with traditional tattoos, it fades gradually over time. Touch-up sessions are recommended to maintain the desired shape and color.
Several factors can influence pigment retention:
- Skin type (oily skin may retain pigment for a shorter duration)
- Reaction to pigment
- Excessive sweating
- Waxing of the brow area
- Use of chemical exfoliants (AHA, glycolic acid)
- Sun exposure or tanning beds
For clients with oily or sensitive skin, shading or powder brows may be a better long-term option.

Does it hurt?
The artist applies a topical anesthetic before and during the procedure to ensure comfort. Most clients describe the sensation as a light scratching or slight discomfort, but the procedure is generally well-tolerated.
What to Expect During Healing
The Microblading process involves two steps. First, the practitioner performs the initial procedure, followed by a touch-up between week 4 and 12.
Immediately after the procedure, your brows will appear darker and more intense. This is completely normal and usually subsides within two to three days. Some clients may experience minimal swelling or redness.
In the first week, the treated area may become flaky or itchy as the skin heals. During week three or four, the skin will naturally exfoliate, revealing the final, softened color. Full healing and color stabilization typically occur by the end of the fourth week.

What to Avoid After Microblading
❌ First 10 days:
- Do not apply creams or makeup to the brow area
- Avoid heavy sweating, saunas, facial massages, or steam exposure
❌ Next 30 days:
- Avoid laser procedures (including IPL or Fraxel) over the treated area, as they may cause pigment loss or skin damage
- Avoid sunbathing and tanning beds
- Refrain from chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and active skin treatments
Microblading is a manual semi-permanent technique that enhances eyebrow shape and density by creating ultra-fine, hair-like strokes on the skin’s surface. Especially suitable for clients with normal to dry skin, microblading offers a tailored solution for those seeking a defined yet natural brow look.
For those with oily or sensitive skin, powder or combination brows may offer better long-term pigment retention.
